The Slow but Rewarding Process of Saving Lives

Hello Patron,

It is a terrible thing to live without hope.   Nobody starts out that way.  For some, it is an unspeakable tragedy that starts that trajectory.  For others, it is a worst-case scenario at the worst possible time.  For still others, it is a slow descent by a thousand cuts and disappointments, each one chipping away at their self-image, leading them to turn to drugs or alcohol to dull the pain.   Whatever the reason, living without a home is the ultimate validation for many that at the bottom is where they belong.   They are not worthy of joy.   They are not capable of finding comfort.   It is what it is.

That is why, for N2N, serving those who live on life’s edge requires a certain level of consistency and patience.   There is no overnight solution for most.  It takes someone to convince them they are worthy after all; that they matter.   They show up at N2N and we welcome them with open arms.   They come back.   We get to know them.   We develop a relationship that builds trust over time.   Then, and only then, can we begin the process of helping them heal; telling them they are someone and they DO matter.

When that happens, God begins to work.

In April, 16 people said YES to changing their lives and re-claiming hope.   16 people accepted N2N’s help in getting them into a drug treatment facility and begin the hard work of re-discovering themselves.   Last month, it was 10 people.  Over the past 3 years, N2N has averaged changing nearly 10 lives every month!    Since 2023, over 250 people have trusted N2N enough to help them overcome their demons and find hope again.

It is hard work.  It is thankless work most of the time.  Many times, this kind of investment in people has led to disappointment, too.  But it is SO worthwhile!   This is what N2N is all about:  Showing how quiet love given every day is the antidote to hopelessness and homelessness.

To do this requires constant investment and a belief that each person is worth fighting for – regardless of their situation or how they got there.

This is why we need your help.   Unlike some organizations, we don’t have large government grants to sustain us.   We don’t have large corporations bankrolling our services.   We live entirely on the donations of caring individuals like you, who understand the value of patience and consistency.

2024 was a hard year for N2N financially, and the changing political attitudes toward homelessness will make 2025 even harder.   Together with rising prices and rent, we fear even more will find themselves on the edge.

That is why we need your help more than ever.

Please consider donating to N2N.   Any amount will be a blessing and will have a direct impact on a life.    There is no donation too small.     If possible, please consider a monthly recurring donation.

To donate, please go to Neighbor2Neighbor Kansas City: Donate to Make a Difference.   Click on the “GIVE” button and donate what you can.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you and God Bless - Neighbor2Neighbor (N2N)
